Libraries assist in Award for Innovation in Education Abroad


Dr. Timothy Palmer, management, and Dr. Jennifer Harrison, social work, were recently awarded the inaugural New York Times inEducation Award for Innovation in Education Abroad. The award recognizes the innovative incorporation of The New York Times into the curriculum of their study  abroad trip to India, which takes place in December. 
University Libraries congratulates them and is pleased to facilitate this outstanding work by providing the digital NYTimes subscription and NY Times inEducation to the WMU Community in support of student success. http://nytimesineducation.com/forum-ea-contest-winners

The Forum on Education Abroad in partnership with The New York Times, began the Award for Innovation in Education Abroad this year. The award recognizes the most innovative incorporation of The New York Times into an education abroad curriculum. This submission will be featured in The Forum’s
Education Abroad Digital Resource Center and on The New York Times inEducation website, and receive a $500 cash prize. 
Applicants shared their original, creative examples of how The New York Times news, content, and archives can be used to enhance education abroad learning before, during, or after the education abroad experience. Submissions were judged based on innovation, as well as adherence to the Standards of Good Practice for Education Abroad and best practices in education abroad.
