Welcome Jonathan Scherger

University Libraries is pleased to announce that Jonathan Scherger is joining Western Michigan University as an Assistant Professor in the new role of User Services Librarian. Mr. Scherger will work with a team of professional staff and student employees in the Waldo, Swain, and Maybee libraries and will provide leadership for public services, including circulation, interlibrary loan, reserves, desk services, reference assistance, and front-line technical support.

Since 2011, Mr. Scherger worked as the Head of User Services for the Mardigian Library at the University of Michigan-Dearborn. He previously held roles as interlibrary loan coordinator and evening circulation supervisor. Mr. Scherger earned a Master of Library and Information Science from Wayne State University in Detroit and a Bachelor of Arts in film and video studies from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.

Mr. Scherger is actively engaged in professional service and has served on a range of campus and regional committees, including serving as an executive board member and chair of the Southeastern Michigan League of Libraries (SEMLOL) and as a representative on the Council of Library Deans (COLD) public services and resource sharing groups. His scholarly interests include "user experience" and "assessment."
